On Tuesday, April 14, 2020, United States President Donald Trump announced that the US would halt funding for the World Health Organization for 60-90 days for its handling of the coronavirus pandemic which erupted in November of 2019.
The follow statment is issued by the Office of the President of the East Turkistan Government in Exile:
The coronavirus erupted in China in November of 2019 in the Chinese city of Wuhan and immediately numerous Chinese doctors informed the Chinese government about the severity of this virus. Instead of taking preventive measures, the Chinese government initially denied the existence of the coronavirus and arrested numerous doctors who were trying to warn the international community. The World Health Organization which fell heavily under the influence of China released statements backing China’s narrative. In late December of 2019, the Chinese government finally admitted the coronavirus outbreak occured and that it was rapidly spreading. The World Health Organization’s Director Dr. Tedros Adhanom visited China and announced that the coronavirus wasn’t that dangerous and together with China, the World Health Organization began to disinform the world.
Based on numerous reports, it has come to light that coronavirus was deliberately spread by the Chinese government to the rest of the world. After the coronavirus had spread across the world and taken the lives of tens of thousands of people, the World Health Organization announced that the coronavirus was very deadly. Although the Chinese government was able to fool many people and nations across Asia, it wasn’t able to fool the United States. President Trump finally recognized that the World Health Organization was heavily under China’s influence due to the World Health Organization’s response and handling of the pandemic. For example when the pandemic first erupted numerous countries tried to close their borders to people coming from China, however, the World Health Organization stated it was unnecessary and tried to prevent many countries form closing their borders. Based on these evidences, it is clear that the World Health Organization is heavily under the influence of China. The United States gives nearly 10 times more in financial aid to the World Health Organization thn that of China, yet the WHO submits itself to China’s control.
Thus it is absolutely justified and correct for the President Trump to suspend its funding of the World Health Organization. This is not an act that damages the global fight against the coronavirus, but rather an act by the United States to punish the World Health Organization for its role in the spread of the coronavirus pandemic and with it its a huge blow to China’s attempts to spread disinformation and lies to the world.
We, the East Turkistan Government in Exile, fully support and applaud President Trump’s policies pushing back against China and we encourage the United States to undertake more actions to protect the rights of the people of the world, including the people of Occupied East Turkistan.
