ETGE 8th Elections & General Assembly (Nov. 10 – Nov. 12, 2019)

The East Turkistan Government-in-Exile will be holding its 8th Elections & General Assembly from Sunday, November 10, 2019 to Tuesday, November 12, 2019. The event will take place at the DoubleTree by Hilton – 300 Army Navy Drive Arlington, VA 22202.

The Opening Ceremony on Sunday November 10, 2019 will start around 9:30 AM and is open to the public.

Members of the East Turkistan Parliament will be electing a new administration to best serve and represent the interests of East Turkistan and its people.

The 8th General Assembly’s theme is “The Struggle for East Turkistan’s Independence: 70 Years On.” Our hope for this 8th General Assembly’s agenda is that the East Turkistan Government-in-Exile will work together and unit with our diaspora community, organizations, and governments across the Free World to respond to the unprecedented campaign of repression and genocide that China’s Communist Party and its occupation forces are waging against East Turkistan and its people. This can be accomplished through mutual commitment to save the lives and souls of East Turkistan’s persecuted people.

As it has become known, the persecution in our Homeland of East Turkistan has increased to a level where it is no doubt a genocide. According to the US Department of Defense, some 3 million or more Uyghurs, and other Turkic peoples are in Concentration Camps and are being deprived of their most basic human rights and religious freedoms. According to Chinese State Media, Xinhua, some 36 million people’s DNA, voice prints, and retina scans were collected in East Turkistan from 2016-2018. China’s PLA Biowarfare strategy hints the potential use of “ethnic genetic attacks.” The people of East Turkistan are currently the most persecuted people on Earth.

The goal for the 8th Elections & General Assembly is to promote a peaceful, nonviolent solution to the human rights & political crisis in East Turkistan while adhering to our fundamental mission of democracy, freedom, and independence. During each General Assembly, we aim to demonstrate the importance of democracy, civic and political engagement, and to develop strategies for conflict resolution, to continue to advocate for the right of our people to restore their independence, and to promote peace and support our people’s education and development with the support of the Free World. The message we want to send is that not that the East Turkistani people are weak and incapable, but rather we strive to affirm that we are committed to restoring our nation’s independence through peaceful, democratic means with the help and support of the Free World.
