The Government in Exile of the Republic of East Turkistan is the sole authoritative body representing East Turkistan and its people in the international fora.
The Government in Exile of the East Turkistan Republic, also known as the East Turkistan Government in Exile (ETGE), has been headquartered in Washington, DC, since its formal establishment on 14 September 2004. The East Turkistan Government in Exile’s headquarters operates a 501 (c)3 non-profit and is formally registered as the East Turkistan Government in Exile Diplomacy & Human Rights Office INC in the United States. Its E.I.N. is 84-2588276.
Our headquarters in Washington guides our representations (de-facto embassies) and representatives across the globe to represent and safeguard the interests of East Turkistan and its people. The ETGE deals with a wide range of political, security, human rights, social, and economic issues of interest to East Turkistan and its people (Uyghurs, Kazakhs, Kyrgyz, Uzbeks, Tatars, etc.). The Prime Minister is responsible for the direction and work of the Government and heads the Executive Council, which oversees the ETGE’s representation offices (de-facto embassies)and representatives, and government activities across the globe.
The ETGE headquarters office also serves as a representation (de-facto embassy) in the United States of America. Its missions include promoting East Turkistani culture, language, and history to the U.S. government and the American people. The ETGE headquarters also spreads awareness and advocates for political and human rights of East Turkistan and its people.
The ETGE headquarters is also responsible for maintaining and developing friendly relations between East Turkistan and the United States of America and other nations across the globe where the ETGE does not have a physical representation. We also provide services to the East Turkistani community residing in the United States and East Turkistanis visiting the United States.
