Statement below attributable to the ETGE’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Adil Abbas
Toronto, CANADA – February 3,2020
On behalf of the people of East Turkistan, the East Turkistan Government-in-Exile commends US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and the United States State Department for consistently raising the issue of Uyghurs, Kazakhs, Kyrgyz and other persecuted Turkic people in East Turkistan during their meetings with Central Asian leaders.
We thank US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and the US State Department for calling on the Central Asian Republics, especially Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, to give refuge and grant asylum to Uyghurs, Kazakhs, Kyrgyz and other Turkic peoples fleeing Chinese persecution in East Turkistan.
We urge the Governments of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan to play a more active role in defending their Turkic brethren in East Turkistan.
We again call on the US Government to recognize China’s atrocities against Uyghurs and other Turkic peoples in East Turkistan as a genocide along with recognizing East Turkistan as an occupied territory. We also call on all governments of the Free World, including governments of the Central Asian Republics to follow suit.
