Condemning TWMCC’s Betrayal: Whitewashing Genocide and Occupation

The statement below is attributed to the Ministry of Culture, Education, and Religious Affairs

The East Turkistan Government-in-Exile condemns, in the strongest terms, the shameful collaboration of the World Muslim Communities Council (TWMCC) with the Chinese Communist regime. At a time when the Muslims of East Turkistan are enduring genocide, colonization, and brutal occupation, TWMCC has chosen to stand with the oppressors rather than the oppressed.

The Chinese state wages a relentless campaign of genocide and state terrorism against Uyghur and other Turkic Muslim peoples of East Turkistan. Thousands of mosques and sacred sites have been desecrated or demolished, many turned into bars, nightclubs, and even toilets. Millions are subjected to prisons, concentration camps, forced sterilizations and abortions, mass enslavement, and coercion to abandon their Islamic faith—forced to eat pork and drink alcohol in direct violation of Islam.

The Chinese occupation regime profits from the harvesting of organs from murdered Uyghur Muslims, a crime against all humanity. To whitewash these atrocities under the guise of “dialogue” is hypocrisy of the highest order. The true terrorists and extremists are the Chinese occupation forces.

We demand the immediate end to China’s genocidal campaign, the restoration of our sovereign political, religious, and cultural freedoms, and the withdrawal of all occupation forces from East Turkistan. We call on Muslim scholars, governments, and peoples worldwide to reject China’s propaganda to whitewash its crimes and stand firmly with the oppressed peoples of Occupied East Turkistan. History will remember who aided genocide, and who stood for justice, dignity, and the survival of our faith and our nation.

— Adil Ablimit, Minister of Culture, Education, and Religious Affairs
