Congressman Yoho’s Speech on China’s Oppression in East Turkistan

On behalf of East Turkistan and its people, the East Turkistan Government-in-Exile commends US Congressman Ted Yoho, a Republican Congressman from Florida and the Ranking Member of the Asia-Pacific Subcommittee in the Committee on Foreign Relations, for speaking out against China’s oppression of Uyghurs, Kazakhs, Kyrgyz, and other peoples of East Turkistan.

Congressman Yoho has been devoted defender of human rights and freedom across the world and has been especially outspoken against China’s brutal oppression in East Turkistan, Hong Kong, and Tibet.

On February 20, 2020, a small delegation of the East Turkistan Government in Exile led by Prime Minister Salih Hudayar visited Congressman Yoho’s office to thank him for his support for the Uyghurs and other peoples of East Turkistan. They discussed the situation in East Turkistan along with the need for the United States to do more to help the Uyghurs and other Turkic peoples of East Turkistan.

Congressman Yoho made a half hour speech on March 11, 2020 at the US House of Representatives where he talked about China and its violations of human rights, its threat to America, and the need for the United States and the Free World to be tougher on China’s Communist Party. During his speech Congressman Yoho also talked about East Turkistan, the fact that is was invaded and renamed to “Xinjiang (New Territory),” along with the brutal persecution of Uyghurs and other Turkic peoples in East Turkistan.
